Student   Outcomes Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to execute:

v  On successful completion of the programme the student will be able to:

v  Deal with different types of business transactions and documentation

v  Check for duality of transactions and the double entry system

v  Banking system and transactions

v  Assist Payroll activities

v  Maintain Ledger accounts

v  Have knowledge on Sales and Credit transactions, Purchases and Credit transactions

v  Assist Reconciliation, Preparing the trial balance (including identifying and correcting errors) and year-end adjustments and final accounts

v  Classify costs by nature, behaviour and purpose

v  Work on accounting principles and concepts

v  Outline the principles and process of basic bookkeeping

v  Preparing journals and ledger accounts

v  Record transactions and events

v  Reconcile the control accounts and cashbook

v  Explain principles of cash management.

v  Understand the purpose and types of businesses and how they interact with key stakeholders and the external environment

v  Understand business organisation structure, functions and the role of corporate governance

v  Recognise the function of accountancy and audit in communicating, reporting and assuring financial information and in effective financial control and compliance

v  Prepare budgets for planning and control

v  Compare actual costs with standard costs and analyse any variances

v  Explain and apply performance measurements and monitor business performance

v  Prepare simple consolidated financial statements

v  Interpretation of financial statements

v  Understand the importance of personal effectiveness as the basis for effective team and organisational behaviour

v  Recognise that all aspects of business and finance should be conducted in a manner which complies with and is in the spirit of accepted professional ethics and professional values

Teaching/Learning Strategy

 

The main teaching method will be based on power point lectures, videos, E-learning, IT- Lab. The students will be working directly on emerging technologies. Most of the work is particle practice based during lecture sessions. Course material is provided accordingly. Also, For Practical/ Project assessment student has to choose any one 1 project from the given project pool. Clear guidelines will be given in the project files example Guided learning hours – Practical and work-based learning – Assessment preparation time – Assessment time – Supported study time.
